Apex is a lifestyle magazine inspired by all aspects of “geek” culture such as video games, comic books and movies. A dynamic grid was used to maximize white space so images and type could be balanced in each spread. This gave a sense of legitimacy that other geek lifestyle magazines seem to lack.

To maximize the impact for the “geek” lifestyle magazine, a digital version was developed to be released every issue. Research into the target audience showed that it responded better to interactivity because of features such as expandable images, scrollable text and animated covers.

The Finis is a hybrid timeshare and a hotel. It’s a unique concept that would offer a customizable experience for the owner of a timeshare in any of their properties. A purple monochromatic palette was selected to reflect simple, minimalistic elegance, as well as visualize allusions to traditional royalty.

Research suggests that the prospective audience of The Finis would travel often for business and pleasure, and would often be in search of entertainment. The travel guide was developed using the same minimalistic style so the target could connect their entertainment experience with the brand.

Pėrė Cider would be a family business owned by a single father and son using their ancestral cider press. The owners being of French descent, an opulent style was used to create a family crest.

A poster concept for Monqui to promote the engagement of the band Garbage at the local McMennamin’s property. The illustration is a representation of the themes of light and darkness within the band’s song, “Beloved Freak”, coupled with the alternative themes of the band themselves.

Opt-Outside is an ad campaign started by the REI retail and outdoor recreation services corporation that iterates REI’s promise to be closed on Black Friday and challenges consumers to go outside and chrojnicle their activities. This project, in cooperation with Jonathan Polder, Danny Jenks, Alex Crull, Jennalyn Samson and Addison Sapp was to raise awareness using both print and video. The video was created first, with elements from the video used to create a printable two page spread.

Cheap Easy is a small retailer of “geek” memorabilia that is owned and operated by a young group of Chinese Americans. The brief called for a mascot that blended the various products that the company sells in a way that is quintessentially Chinese as a way of acknowledging their heritage. An Anthropomorphic panda named “ Al”was developed in three poses for each major branch of business.
